So...it's been busy busy busy! We had a very kind donation - 5 bottles of champers - and we are offering them to the first 5 booked and paid for in full tables. We're trying to sell out even earlier than last year to really cement ourselves as The Event to go to this Autumn. Please get yourselves organised and help us make this an amazing night! I know you will!
Agh! 14 weeks! Where has the time gone?!
We've been busy securing auction and raffle prizes so there'll be lots of exciting prizes up for grabs on the night...we'll have them posted soon as we can on the website so you can start saving your pennies!
Tables have been selling well and we only have several left - which is crazy. I'd advise you to get your group together sooner rather than later. We have a lot of repeat offenders coming this year which means one thing - they had an amazing time last year!
If anyone can offer any prizes for the raffle or auction, let us know and similarly if you have ideas for sponsorship to alleviate the running costs, we'd be glad to hear of them!
So...we've been emailing, begging, borrowing and calling in favours left right and centre and it's starting to take Poppy Rocks Ball shape now! Phew! Venue is booked and confirmed and deposit being paid this week. All very exciting.
Table sales are going well - nearly half sold already and it's not even June!! I would definitely encourage people to sort things quickly as we sold out 7 weeks in advance last year. I'm hoping for the same this year...
As far as a sponsor goes we've had some very positive meetings but nothing over the finishing line yet. It makes a huge difference if we have a sponsor or not so if you know of anyone who could be interested or have any contacts then do let us know.
Lastly, if you could all just spread the word as far and wide as possible that would be very much appreciated. We want to be bigger and better each year and your help really counts.
Well the madness is ramping up again! We have had 2 committee meetings so far and I'm thrilled by the progress so far for auction and raffle prizes. We are also sending out sponsorship opportunities in the next few days so hopefully we'll have a supporter very soon.
If you have any questions or would like to be involved in any way - do let me know!
It's TONIGHT! Can't believe it's here....Fingers crossed we raise lots for a worthy cause
Just over a week to go and we are all going crazy with preparations...I think we're all running on adrenalin as there are late nights and frantic emails. It will be worth it on the night and we can't wait to welcome you all!
Crikey. We have 9 weeks to go...only NINE! It's coming around so quickly....
We had a committee meeting on Monday evening and we were talking through our auction prizes and wow, we have some pretty awesome things up for grabs. We've been very lucky with what has been donated. However, if you have anything you feel you can add - then please do get in touch - we'd be most grateful.
Tickets are selling nicely and we are on course for the 250 and possibly have to extend beyond that! There is just over 6 weeks to go to buy tickets (final numbers have to be given to the venue) so make sure you and your friends have got yours.
Sarah and I are busy working on the programme and booklet for the night...very pleased I have someone who knows what they're doing as otherwise I'd be lost. That's been the great thing about the committee - everyone has their strengths and i've been lucky enough to use these to the benefit of the ball. On another note - we are looking for ushers/auction helpers for the night...if you know someone who'd like to give their time to help (and they'll be able to enjoy a dance afterwards) then let us know!
Right - back to it...there's insurance to buy, tickets to order, tickets to sell, helpers to find...the list is getting bigger!
Ahh prizes! It's what the committee are concentrating on currently. We are all blagging, borrowing and begging for prizes, whether it be for the auction or the raffle.
We are only having a select number of prizes for the auction - nothing worse than sitting through an auction that drags on and the prizes aren't relevant or too expensive...we are hoping that we will have somthing for everyone and that it will finish early enough that there is plenty of time to dance the night away to the band and DJ!
Alongside the auction, there will be a raffle taking place and tickets will be sold through the drinks reception and first course. Prizes will range and it'll be total luck of the draw what you could end up with, but that's half the fun: The gamble (and all for a very good cause!!).
Lastly - we will also be holding the classic heads and tails table game for the chance to win a superb prize.
See - there is loads up for grabs! Don't forget to bring plenty of cash, not only for the raffle and tabel game, but also for the bar (it's a cash bar only - no cards) as The Poppy Rocks Ball receives 10% of the takings at the end of the night.
Right - back to the blagging, borrowing and begging...*
* - if you have a prize you could donate - then do get in touch, it's all appreciated.
I am counting in weeks!
It's getting to that stage where we have 11 weeks to go and I'm trying to make sure we're on track with everything. Venue - check. Food - check. Band/DJ - check. That's the important stuff right?! Then there are all the other aspects like prizes, MC, auctioneer, table decorations, tickets, booklets...the list goes on! Luckily I have a committee that can help with all these aspects as otherwise I'm pretty sure I'd have lost the plot by now! You'll be pleased to know - we are currently on plan. I'm a little bit OCD and my spreadsheet is looking ok, so that's a relief.
Been getting some very generous prize donations for the raffle and the auction come through as well, which is fabulous. It all helps. If you have something you could donate, or know someon who might - let us know!
The realisation that in fact there are only 8 weeks left to buy tickets has only just hit though - so please get on that asap and get your group of friends together. It's for a great cause and seeing you all there will make the committee and I feel like the 11 months of planning were worth it!
